The Lodge at Chaa Creek’s Travel Channel Feature Highlights Belize’s Growth As A Premier Destination
San Ignacio, Belize (PRWEB) February 22, 2016 -- The Lodge at Chaa Creek's feature in a recent Travel Channel article also highlights why Belize’s tourist arrivals are expected to continue on an upward trend this year, according to Chaa Creek’s marketing administrator.
The February 2016 Travel Channel article, "Belize’s 10 Best Jungle Lodges," featured Chaa Creek with the acknowledgement that “Many consider this to be the best lodge in Belize.” The article also explains some of the factors behind Belize’s continued growth as a one of the world’s most desirable travel destinations, according to marketing administrator Roberto Harrison.
“It’s very gratifying to be acknowledged by such a popular and trusted travel authority as The Travel Channel, and I think it reflects well not only on Chaa Creek, but Belize in general. It also helps to explain why tourist arrivals increased last year, and why we’re confident of further growth this year,” Mr. Harrison said.
Mr. Harrison said Belize Tourism Board figures indicated that 2015 tourist arrivals showed an overall growth of 6.2% as compared to 2014. The Caribbean Journal also reported growth, with the country showing a 6.9% percent increase in stay-over arrivals during the third quarter of 2015, compared to the same period in 2014.
“Chaa Creek, in many ways, encapsulates what drives the tourism industry in Belize, which is providing a high quality experience for travellers within a framework of environmental sustainability and responsible tourism,” Mr. Harrison said. “Considering what we’re seeing, we have every reason to expect further growth this year."
The Travel Channel article outlined some of Belize’s major attractions before announcing, “Here are our picks for Belize’s best lodges in all price ranges."
The review of The Lodge at Chaa Creek began by describing owners Mick and Lucy Fleming, who opened the popular eco-resort in 1981, as “jungle-lodge pioneers” before going on to say:
“Today, their property, near San Ignacio in western Belize, has the country’s top spa, an infinity pool, lovely manicured grounds on a 365-acre nature reserve, an extraordinary staff, more than 40 rooms and suites, a gourmet restaurant and every tour imaginable. Many consider this to be the best lodge in Belize.”
Mr. Harrison said that, “Coming from the Travel Channel, and considering the overall quality of resorts here, being referred to as the ‘best lodge in Belize’ is high praise indeed, and something we certainly appreciate.”
Mr. Harrison said that other reasons for optimism about Belize’s future include the Belize government’s announcement of a new international airport for Ambergris Caye and enhanced air service to and within Belize.
“The combination of more direct overseas flights to Belize with increased local service is making travel to and within Belize easier every year. With Tropic Air’s service at Maya Flats airstrip, virtually at Chaa Creek’s front door, connecting us to Belize City, Ambergris Caye, the Caribbean coast and Guatemala’s major ancient Maya attractions, travellers can enjoy a wealth of experiences in one easy Belize vacation,” Mr. Harrison said.
“The increased ease of travel and infrastructure upgrades are important, but what really drives the growth of Belize’s tourism industry is the tourism product itself and the excellent word of mouth we enjoy,” Mr. Harrison said. “At the end of the day, it’s all about providing a superior experience that people appreciate and tell their friends about, and that’s something we pride ourselves on."
“It’s great to see that it’s appreciated,” he added.
The Lodge at Chaa Creek is a multi award winning eco resort set within a 400-acre private nature reserve along the banks of the Macal River in Belize.
