The Making of Our Success – Explore How Seattle Was Built
Issaquah, WA (PRWEB) April 13, 2015 -- The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Washington and University House Issaquah are collaborating to bring, 'From Beach Camp to Metropolis – The Architecture of Seattle', a new lecture series to the Eastside. The four-part, college-level learning series about the physical evolution of the Seattle-area, including the Eastside suburbs, and all of King County is being held at University House Issaquah.
'From Beach Camp to Metropolis – The Architecture of Seattle', is taught by University of Washington Adjunct Historic Preservation Professor, Mimi Sheridan. It begins Thursday April 30 and continues on Thursdays May 7, May 14, concluding May 21. Each class is offered from 1pm – 3pm, and is open to Osher members at a cost of $30 for the series. New members are welcome to engage in this lifelong learning series with purchase of annual membership.
“This series about Seattle and its architectural history is amazing,” said University House Issaquah Executive Director, Lynda Krill. “It combines everything you ever wanted to know about local city planning history and personas, with a university-style approach to learning; it’s basically that class you always wanted to take in college and never did.”
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes are found on the campuses of 119 colleges and universities from Maine to Hawaii and Alaska. Each provides a distinctive array of non-credit courses and activities specifically developed for seasoned adults aged 50 or older who are interested in learning for the joy of learning. The Foundation also provides support to the National Resource Center for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes at Northwestern University.
