The Meadows Announces Updates to the Gentle Path Program
Wickenburg, AZ (PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- The Meadows trauma and addiction treatment center in Wickenburg, Ariz., recently announced updates to Dr. Patrick Carnes’ Gentle Path program at The Meadows. Updates include long-time Meadows’ employee, Allan Benham, assuming the role of Gentle Path Executive Director, along with improvements to the Vista campus that will create a world-class facility for males 18 and older struggling with a sexual addiction.
The Gentle Path program is based on the ground breaking work of Dr. Carnes’ Thirty-Task model which has been empirically validated to be an effective form of treatment for sexually compulsive behavior. Patients of the Gentle Path program undergo a comprehensive diagnostic assessment prior to participation in the residential treatment program. Patients focus on trauma therapy in addition to treatment for mood disturbance, anxiety, or addictions such as chemical dependency and process addictions.
Gentle Path at The Meadows is scheduled to open November 1, 2013, at The Meadows’ newest property, Vista, two miles from the main campus, offering a 27-bed facility and an exclusive and confidential setting.
According to Benham, the original name of the property was Vista del Oro or View of Gold. “The name really describes the property,” explained Benham. “Vista is a 35 acre property that sits on top of a hill and has 365 degree views of the mountains surrounding Wickenburg. The property also has large, beautiful, mature landscaping and trees which can be a rarity in the desert. It really gives a sense of peace and tranquility when walking the property”
Treatment modalities at Gentle Path at The Meadows will incorporate The Meadows Model with Dr. Patrick Carnes’ 30 task model for the treatment of sex addiction and will include EMDR, Somatic Experiencing®, equine therapy, CBT, and psychodrama.
“We’re working hand-in-hand with Patrick Carnes and his team to craft and implement the best treatment measures for sex addiction utilizing the most current methodologies,” said Benham.
