The Meadows Wickenburg Announces Inpatient Treatment Outcome Study
Wickenburg, AZ (PRWEB) October 22, 2013 -- The Meadows trauma and addiction treatment center in Wickenburg, Ariz. recently announced preliminary findings of an ongoing treatment outcomes study that evaluates the effectiveness of The Meadows’ five-week inpatient treatment program. The initial results are overwhelmingly positive and show that individuals who receive treatment at The Meadows experience significant clinical improvement in a variety of key areas and are extremely satisfied with their treatment.
“At the Meadows we strive to provide world class clinical care. We are constantly examining how to incorporate the latest scientific advancements and best practices so our patients can feel confident they are receiving the very best care,” said Sean Walsh, The Meadows’ Executive Director. “The results of our outcome study show tangible evidence of the tremendous work and significant progress Meadows’ patients make throughout the course of treatment.”
Dr. Jon G. Caldwell, D.O., Ph.D., psychiatrist and clinical research investigator, has been coordinating the outcomes research study at The Meadows. Since January 2013, over 100 individuals have completed valid research measures during their first and last weeks of treatment regarding their attitudes about treatment and their mental, emotional, and social functioning. The results indicated that, on a scale of 0-100, study participants rated treatment program effectiveness at 93, overall satisfaction with treatment at 94, and their willingness to recommend The Meadows to friends and family at 92.
Additionally, individuals who received five weeks of treatment at The Meadows generally experienced a significant drop in symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. In fact, 45% of all participants met criteria for post-traumatic stress disorder on admission, while only 11% met criteria for the same disorder at discharge. Participants also made significant progress in understanding and managing their emotions, and they were better able to share emotion, communicate, and solve problems with their family members. Lastly, participants reported increases in their confidence regarding recovery and their levels of self-esteem.
“These results provide convincing evidence for what many people have known for decades: The Meadows offers compassionate care and highly effective treatment for individuals and families affected by trauma, addiction, and mental illness,” said Dr. Jon Caldwell, The Meadows’ Psychiatrist.
