San Jose, CA (PRWEB) July 06, 2016 -- Over the five years the Mobile Voice Conference was held, the branch of Artificial Intelligence dealing with understanding human language--Natural Language Interpretation (NLI)--has advanced to allow it to handle increasingly complex tasks, allowing true Conversational Interaction with digital systems and services, both through text and voice.
“Mobile Voice” reflected the role of smartphones in motivating voice interaction using speech recognition--smaller screens made the Graphical User Interface more difficult to use. “Conversational Interaction” reflects the broader use of NLI by both voice and text and on a broader range of platforms. The trend is motivated in part by screen size on mobile devices and by some devices that don’t even have screens, but also by the growing number of devices, features, apps, and services that make the once-simple Graphical User Interface (GUI) often frustrating, confusing, and slow.
Bill Scholz, AVIOS president, noted, “Natural language interfaces are exploding, with bots, virtual agents, and digital personal assistants being continually announced and improved. And we are seeing interaction by human language without personifying the interaction in applications such as customer service.
