The Network Journal Names YWCA-NYC CEO Dr. Danielle Lee Moss as One of the “25 Influential Black Women In Business”
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 24, 2015 -- For her achievements as the president and chief executive officer of the YWCA of the City of New York (YWCA-NYC), Danielle Moss Lee, Ed.D. has been named one of 2015’s “25 Influential Black Women in Business” by the Network Journal.
Under Dr. Moss Lee’s leadership, the YWCA-NYC has expanded its program portfolio to include a professional women’s speaker series, leadership and STEM education programs for girls, and greater advocacy for women and girls in New York City. Her focus on strengthening the organization’s infrastructure and programs, in addition to increasing visibility, relevancy and impact, has significantly improved the YWCA-NYC’s ability to help underserved communities access advantageous opportunities.

Dr. Moss Lee and the other honorees will be recognized at the Network Journal’s annual luncheon, which brings together the area’s most esteemed business executives and decision-makers. This year’s 17th Anniversary Luncheon, to be held on March 26th, will include a networking reception, lunch, and award presentation by Emmy Award-winning journalist Brenda Blackmon.
“For 17 consecutive years, the Network Journal has recognized the outstanding professionalism of 25 African American women annually, and for 17 years I have been amazed by the heights these women continue to achieve,” said Aziz Gueye Adetimirin, publisher and CEO of the Network Journal.
Dr. Moss Lee was a co-founder and lead applicant of Sisulu-Walker Children’s Academy – Harlem Charter School (the first authorized charter school in the state of New York), and has previously served on the boards of the Dodge YMCA, Teachers College Center for Educational Outreach and Innovation Advisory Board, Community Education Council District 3, the National Advisory Board of The Next Generation Venture Fund, and the Teachers College 125th Anniversary Steering Committee. She is currently the president of Black Agency Executives, a member of the New York Coalition of 100 Black Women Advisory Board, a board member of the Human Services Council, and a member of the Swarthmore College Board of Managers.
Her contributions to the education and social sectors have been recognized by the New York State Education Department, the New York Coalition of 100 Black Women, Harvard Business School Club of New York, Bank of America, and the College Board. A passionate activist, her writing has been featured by the Daily Beast, the Huffington Post, Edutopia, and City Limits Magazine. She has also appeared on WABC-TV’s “Here and Now” and “New York Viewpoint,” as well as NY1’s “Inside City Hall.” The Daily News once dubbed her as one of the most important players in public education for her ability to respectfully meet young people where they are and to give them the tools and agency to transform their own lives.
In addition to honoring the “25 Influential Black Women in Business” class at the Network Journal luncheon, the honorees will also be featured in the magazine’s Spring 2015 issue.
