The New Game My Playground, Launches on Kickstarter
New York, New York (PRWEB) September 16, 2014 -- The creators of My Playground, are determined to challenge the digital era of toys, and are focused on bringing back, imaginative play for children. After researching toys and games, they realized that in the age of “all things digital” there is an increasing problem in the way in which Children are taught to play.
With the majority of young children spending an average of 5-7 hours per day in front of a screen (video or TV), children are led through scenarios but not reaching into their own imaginations, creating stories and characters. Seeing the need in the marketplace, Nudell and his partner, Tomer Eizenberg created My Playground – a portable, versatile, and neutral game environment that encourages creative process, storytelling, improvisation and imagination.
Nudell uncovered another issue during his research, most toys are not gender neutral, and assume that all girls want to play with pink dollhouses and all boys like cars and trains. This discovery again, highlighted the need for true imaginative play wherein they make their own choices. “It is important, that parents and caregivers understand, that although, a child is entertained by digital toys and media – some of the key elements of their development are not being challenged," Nudell continues.
With imaginative play being vital for cognitive development, spatial awareness, socialization and confidence, “it was important to us to create a versatile, affordable, portable and imaginative game for children, to begin exploring their imaginations again, I am confident that My Playground is the perfect solution,” said co-creator Miran Nudell.
The creators have even taken a unique route to marketing and funding, by launching a Kickstarter campaign – “it is equally as important to spread awareness as it is to fund the first production run.” This coupled with the need to do a large first run in order to keep it affordable and accessible – it seems like the perfect match.
Each My Playground comes with; 6 Characters, 6 Character Cards - unique stories about each character, Custom Carrying Case and easily folds up with patent pending bi-directional hinges to fit on a bookcase or shelf – and expands to over 3ft of play environment.
My Playground has launched on Kickstarter, with rewards starting at $29, Miran says “We are excited about making this available to the public, the feedback and support has been fantastic.”
