The North America Office of Duesseldorf Tourism and Duesseldorf Airport Announce: New Günther Uecker Exhibit in Duesseldorf – February 2 – May 10, 2015
Düsseldorf, Germany (PRWEB) November 25, 2014 -- “Uecker” is the title of a new exhibit opening at Düsseldorf’s K20 Museum on February 2, 2015, as a presentation of the famous German artist Günther Uecker’s past and present works and the many levels of his artistic talent and genius, including pieces of innovative styles that made him famous, such as relief-like images created from nails, and kinetic installations. The exhibit also explores, from a contemporary perspective, how the many ways in which Uecker expressed his artistic visions were received by a world-wide audience.
Günther Uecker, born 1930, was also a member of the ZERO movement, a Düsseldorf-based group of artists. The group produced art from 1958 through 1966 with the intention to liberate art of the limitations of the past, especially the depression and darkness of WWII, and from this create a new and more carefree and optimistic world through art. An exhibit of ZERO works was shown earlier this year at New York City’s Guggenheim Museum. Besides his work with ZERO, Uecker is known for collaborating with other famous artists like Gerhard Richter.
The exhibit at K20 runs through May 10, 2015, and also features a new presentation by the artist, shown in a section of the museum called “LABOR” (laboratory).
