The Performance Institute Hosts Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN) Event
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) June 10, 2015 -- Today, The Performance Institute (PI) hosts Edward Parkinson, Director of Government Affairs, First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) and other leaders and members of the nationwide security, public safety, and emergency-response community to offer a working session to break down, step-by-step, the operational activity needed to get ready for the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN).
Ray Lehr, PI Fellow, Nationwide Public Safety Broadband, helps moderate the second of three public policy forums on this mission-critical topic, “How to get Ready for FirstNet—Strategy, Architecture, and Security.” The timing cannot be better as FirstNet's recently released Draft RFP makes it clear that the process necessary for the successful design, deployment, operation, and sustainability of the NPSBN is complex.
Joining Lehr is Alma Cole, PI Fellow, Cyber Security. “It took a united effort by dedicated and diverse groups to ensure the creation of FirstNet and the funding and spectrum to take the NPSBN a step closer to reality,” says Lehr. “Now, it will take this group of public safety organizations, governmental groups, along with commercial and manufacturing groups, and nonprofits, to ensure first responders have a reliable network when the next crisis hits.”
In late 2014, the NPSBN community came together for the first PI policy forum to discuss such topics as the benefits of early adoption; building a road map for finance, technology, and architecture; and organizational strategies. “The Performance Institute is proud to be a part of the NPSBN community of dedicated professionals from federal, state, and local government agencies who are proactive, involved, and leading the transition to public safety broadband,” says Diane Denholm, PI’s Executive Director. “As we continue to build upon our rich history of providing strategic planning, performance measurement, and management leadership, it is a privilege to be a part of helping build a community to address important mission-critical public policy topics such as the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network.”
PI will host an additional policy forum in late 2015. To learn more, visit http://www.performanceinstitute.org/broadband
