The Plan Collection Supports Veterans by Pledging 5 Percent of House Plan Sales to Fisher House Foundation
SCARSDALE, NY (PRWEB) April 14, 2015 -- The Plan Collection, a leading resource for house plans and home design ideas, has come up with its own plan to support a great charitable organization. For the months of April, May, October and November, The Plan Collection will donate 5 percent of all house plans sales to Fisher House Foundation.
For 25 years, the not-for-profit organization Fisher House Foundation has been providing military and Veterans’ families with “comfort homes” - welcoming safe and free temporary lodging — while their loved ones receive care at military or VA medical centers.
“We were immediately drawn to this worthwhile charity.” said Brian Toolan, chief executive of The Plan Collection. “As Americans, we appreciate the service and sacrifice made by our military and believe it is our responsibility to offer assistance to those in need. As an organization, The Plan Collection works first-hand with families across the country to help them find house plans to build their own home. As such, we found in Fisher House Foundation a remarkable charitable partner choice.”
To build awareness of its corporate commitment to Fisher House Foundation and to encourage customer support, The Plan Collection will be promoting the program through its website and bi-weekly newsletter. The months of April and May were selected to time with Memorial Day and the events leading up to that holiday. Similarly, the months of October and November were selected to bring more attention to Veterans Day. The Plan Collection’s website will have a link to Fisher House’s website, fisherhouse.org, to further raise awareness and provide the ability for users to donate directly to this charity, which was awarded an A+ by the American Institute of Philanthropy, and a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.
“Fisher House Foundation has been serving military, Veterans and their families for 25 years.” said Dave Coker, president of Fisher House Foundation. “But we don’t do it alone. We depend on partners like The Plan Collection to help us build awareness and homes.”
The mission of Fisher House Foundation is to ensure families of wounded service men and women have a "home away from home" on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers, enabling family members to be close when their loved one is hospitalized for an unexpected illness, disease or injury. There are 64 Fisher Houses located in the United States and Europe, and all homes are operated and maintained by the Army, Navy, Air Force or Department of Veterans Affairs. In 2014 alone, these comfort homes served over 25,000 individuals and saved military families more than $47 million in lodging, food and transportation expenses.
