The Posy Collection's Color-and-Stitch Nativity Kit Helps Families Focus on the Christmas Story
Murray, KY (PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- The Posy Collection’s newly released Color-and-Stitch Nativity kit is a meaningful project for the whole family. Together, adults and children learn about and tell the Christmas story while making a set of six nativity figures.
Children grab their box of crayons and color the traditional figures of the nativity, printed on muslin. Then a parent or other adult outlines them with embroidery thread and finishes them as standup figures. The family can enjoy the nativity figures as decorations, or the children can use them for role-playing the Christmas story.
Posy Lough, who produces needlework kits with her husband in Murray, Ky., has fond memories of creating nativity figures with their young son, then watching him re-enact the Christmas story.
“It helped me realize how significant role-playing was in his spiritual development,” said Lough, president of The Posy Collection. “I started to think about how this might be expanded, so that others could do something similar with their young children or grandchildren at Christmas.”
Over the past 30 years, Lough has created several personal faith-based kits, as well as hundreds of traditional cross stitch and redwork kits offered at historic sites throughout the USA.
