The Push for Clean Air Gets a Fresh Start with ChoosePAWind
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) January 14, 2015 -- ChoosePAWind and the American Lung Association of the Mid-Atlantic partnered to launch a new campaign promoting local wind energy options, with a group of local organizations as the initial participants. The campaign aims to bring faith institutions and other groups together to raise awareness of the connection between air pollution and respiratory health. Participants hope to get as many people as possible to switch to Pennsylvania wind through one of the retail electricity suppliers in the campaign – The Energy Coop, Community Energy, and WGES. ChoosePAWind will donate to each group based on the number of new wind power enrollments they get.
“The air we breathe has a direct impact on our lung health so it’s imperative that we do as much as we can to reduce air pollution by switching to clean sources of energy such as wind,” said Deb Brown, President & CEO, American Lung Association Mid-Atlantic. “Switching to wind power is one of the simplest steps somebody can take to help clean our air.”
Residents who want to make the switch can easily do so by visiting the campaign’s landing page at ChoosePAWind.com/Philly. Enrollment is simple and takes less than five minutes. Participating suppliers offer fixed or variable rate options, with prices that are affordable for most families. The extra cost for many would be about the cost of a cup of coffee a day.
The pilot program is currently targeting Southeastern Pennsylvania, and is scheduled to run through the end of January 2015. Organizations or businesses looking to participate can still sign up. ChoosePAWind is donating $20 for every wind power enrollment that goes through the campaign’s landing page.
