The Raritan Bay Area YMCA and Temple Beth Mordecai Present the 1st Annual Rubber Duck Race
(PRWEB) November 27, 2013 -- On Sunday, December 8th, the Raritan Bay Area YMCA and Temple Beth Mordecai will present the 1st Annual Rubber Duck Race, to be held immediately following the City of Perth Amboy’s Annual Holiday Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting, as part of a fundraising effort for the local Perth Amboy community.
This event is being organized by the Raritan Bay Area YMCA and Temple Beth Mordecai, and is designed to create awareness, and to strengthen and support families living in the area.
Adoption Certificates are being sold in advance, whereby participants can adopt a rubber duck for $10. Each duck is numbered with its own unique code, and will be raced down a specially constructed water slide on Market Street at the event on December 8th. Ultimately, the seven winning ducks will receive prizes which include: a 50” Panasonic TV, X-Box, iPad 2, iPad 1, and three Macy’s gift cards (valued at $100, $75 and $50, respectively).
“Our Annual Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting gathers many families annually and is enjoyed by all ages. I am pleased to support our non-profit organizations with the 1st Annual Rubber Duck Race to help raise funds for the community," said Mayor Wilda Diaz.
Proceeds from the event will go directly towards providing swimming lessons for 500 children, which will educate on the importance of water safety, and the fundraiser will also help to enhance the cultural diversity of Perth Amboy by sustaining a Jewish community in the city.
The race will take place immediately following the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at 5:45pm on December 8th, at the City Hall Circle on Market Street.
