The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua Launches New Programming for Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ambassadors of the Environment in Time for Summer Travel Season.
Kapalua, Maui, HI (PRWEB) July 15, 2015 -- The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua has announced several new activities launching this summer through Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment including sunrise hikes, underwater photography and snorkeling. These new activities now available at this Maui resort are perfect for adults, families and children traveling on summer vacation.
This program is part of an agreement between The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C., and renowned diplomat for the environment, Jean-Michel Cousteau and his Ocean Futures Society to develop Ambassadors of the Environment programs in carefully selected Ritz-Carlton locations worldwide. The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua’s program was the first to launch following this agreement, which was based on the success of the program at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.
With recreational activities for kids and adults alike, Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment introduces guests to the natural wonders and rich cultural traditions of the Hawaiian Islands. Throughout these uniquely designed Maui excursions, the island's ecological resources become a natural classroom and living laboratory in which adults, families and kids learn while having fun at the same time. Through exploration and learning, Ambassadors provide meaningful experiences that imbue them with a deep appreciation and respect for nature, as well as an understanding of how to live more environmentally responsible back home. New programming for adults and families include:
ID ME! Snorkel - Experience the fun and awe of snorkeling along Kapalua’s bays while naturalists guide guests through a reef survey exploration using special underwater tools. This unique snorkel also supports ongoing Ambassadors efforts in identifying fish species, Green Sea Turtles and monitoring its adopted coral head in partnership with the Coral Reef Alliance. This valuable data is added to local and international registries and each participant receives a certificate recognizing their contribution with Ambassadors to Malama I Ke Kai (take care of the ocean).
Romance on the Reef Snorkel – Perfect for couples, spouses, honeymooners or simply those in love with Hawaii’s natural beauty. Naturalists guide participants on a snorkel like no other in an underwater exploration of the many love connections found along Maui’s famed coral reefs.
Sunrise Coastal Walk – Begin the day anew along the ocean path of the Kapalua Coastal Trail with Ambassador trained naturalists. Using the Hawaiian Moon Calendar, learn how closely connected the Hawaiian people are to nature and based upon the moon tides, enjoy the opportunity to explore tide pools along the way.
E ala e Maunalei – West Maui Sunrise Hike – E Ala E (“Awaken”) the day in the pristine Maunalei Arboretum. Guided by naturalists, this beautiful hike to the Arboretum summit offers the rich reward of unparalleled views into the native Pu’u Kukui Watershed, Kapalua’s protected and pristine water source.
In addition to new adult and family programs, the Ambassadors have added to an already stellar list of children’s activities for ages five and older including Turtle Tracks, The Fires of Pele, Survivor, Underwater Photography and more. The two new experiences launching this summer are:
C.S.I. Water Investigation – Water pollution is a crime and Ambassadors have the important job of investigating and identifying the source through special water-testing equipment and techniques. We collect and analyze various water samples and the final conclusions help to solve the case! Participants learn their role in water protection and watershed preservation by gaining knowledge to make a difference in their own community. In partnership with West Hawaii Volunteer Standards and The Coral Reef Alliance.
Shark Discovery – Discover the world of Hawaii’s “Mano”, their crucial role in our global oceans and their importance in the lives of the Hawaiian people.
Evening programs such as In the Kitchen, Star Voyager, Creatures of the Night and When The Sun Goes Down are available providing parents a unique opportunity to an enjoy a romantic evening on their own while the children are discovering Hawaii’s most unique natural wonders.
