The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music Announces February Events
Saint Paul, MN (PRWEB) February 01, 2014 -- The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music announced a number of events for the month of February. Concerts will be held Feb. 2, 5, 8 and 11 at the Conservatory at 26 East Exchange St. in St. Paul, as well as at the McNally Smith Auditorium and University Club.
SPCM will host Suzuki Solo Recitals at the McNally Smith Auditorium at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 2. SPCM Suzuki teachers are committed to developing expressive talent right from the start. Come see the results with talented youth performing solo work.
At noon on Wednesday, Feb. 5, Coffee Concert: Chamber Trio will be held at the University Club at 420 Summit Ave. in St. Paul. The Chamber Trio features SPCM faculty members Ivan Konev on piano and Natalia Moiseeva on violin with special guest Tanya Remenikova on cello. The program will feature Trio in G minor by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Trio in D minor op. 32 by Anton Arensky.
Konev, born in Ukraine, has won prizes in a number of international and local competitions and is an active performer both in the United States and abroad. He has performed with the Kharkov Philharmonic Orchestra and Yalta Symphony Orchestra in Ukraine as well as at the Embassy of the United States in Moscow. He is a member of the piano faculty at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and Saint Paul Conservatory of Music.
Moiseeva is a native Russian violinist and a winner of a number of national youth competitions in Russia, as well as the University of Minnesota School of Music Concerto Competition. She also has performed with the Kharkov Philharmonic Orchestra and regularly performs with University of Minnesota faculty and the Minnesota Orchestra. Moiseeva is a faculty member at the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music.
Remenikova is a critically-acclaimed cellist with a 40-year international performing career. She has performed around the world with the Israel Philharmonic, Jerusalem Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra and Orchestre Nationale de Belgique, among others. Her concert performances have been broadcast in several countries around the world. She has been a professor and chamber music coach at the University of Minnesota School of Music since 1976.
A Saturday Matinee will be held at the SPCM beginning at 3 p.m. on Feb. 8. Students will perform in a friendly, casual setting. All SPCM students are welcome to perform and everyone is welcome to attend.
The SPCM will host its Spring Open House from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11. Students and faculty will welcome guests and help them see how the SPCM can bring more music to their lives.
