The Second Quarter of CUSTOMS Info Global Data Mining’s Desktops & Desks Charitable Program is Making a Difference in Zimbabwe
Eden, UT (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- CUSTOMS Info Global Data Mining, a leader in trade compliance data and data management, has donated $10,000 in their customers’ names to Durlstone Foundation (Durlstone) to build a better future for Zimbabwe one child at a time. The Desktops & Desks program finishes its second quarter with success.
The Desktops & Desks™ program supports the educational component of Durlstone’s mission: to provide at least seven years of elementary education for the children of Zimbabwe. The Classification Desktop™ by CUSTOMS Info Global Data Mining is a highly specialized, proprietary software application designed to help international trade professionals become extraordinary in their management of global trade data. Desks represent a symbol of education and the opportunity for these children to build successful, and perhaps, extraordinary lives.
Desktops & Desks™ donations have helped Durlstone provide electricity and shelving for their newly constructed library. Durlstone doesn’t have electricity in any of their classrooms yet, but the library will now have electricity to show their students educational videos/CDs and provide children light to read by on dark days.
Matt Gersper, Chairman of CUSTOMS Info Global Data Mining, introduced Martha van Duren, Chairman of Durlstone, on stage at the opening of the International Compliance Professionals Association (ICPA EU) conference in Dublin, Ireland last month.
“No one can do everything but everyone can do something,” Mr. Gersper said to the conference audience of more than 150 attendees, “Please help by making a personal donation, by sharing this message with your friends and colleagues in the industry, and by bringing attention of this charitable program to your company so they too may contribute to this good cause.”
Donations have come from CiGDM on behalf of clients using the Desktop™ and from within the trade professional community through CiGDM’s education and outreach efforts, such as the EUR 500 donation recently made by MIC Customs Solutions. “Very generous indeed,” said Mrs. Van Duren upon receiving the MIC donation, “for this amount we can give 8 children 5 years of education at our school.”

About the Durlstone Foundation:
In 1981, Dutch citizen Martha van Duren began to build a school for the children of the employees on the Durlstone farm. Very soon the neighboring children also joined the school and together with their employers took care of this school. With the exception of a few donations the school was entirely self-sufficient. However, in the year 2000, the neighboring farms where acquired during the land acquisition and redistributed among poor but large African families. The school now has over 800 pupils. As we deal with the poorest group in the population of Zimbabwe they need our help to keep this school running properly. Martha really wants to continue to give these children an education but cannot do this alone. That is why in 2007 the Durlstone Foundation was set up.
The mission of Durlstone is threefold:
1. Provide at least seven years of elementary education for the children of Zimbabwe.
2. Support orphans attending Durlstone School and, if necessary, find suitable foster families for them.
3. Educate, provide opportunities, and support women within the community.
