The Sweetest Things in Life Don’t End with Dementia
Palo Alto, Calif. (PRWEB) March 13, 2015 -- There are 7.7 million new cases of dementia every year, according to the World Health Organization. As the number of loved ones afflicted grows, it’s important to recognize ways to keep their lives fun.
96-year-old author and former Stanford professor John G. Gurley has spent years remaining faithful and loving to his dementia-afflicted wife. He has focused his efforts in understanding how to make her life interesting and meaningful, and decided to write a series of books about his wife, culminating in “Even More Vignettes of Yvette at Vi.”
“So many people are affected by dementia around the world,” said Gurley. “I face it every day with my wife. I love her, and even at my age I still do my best to keep her life meaningful, mentally and physically. “
Gurley hopes that his books can help bring people to an understanding of how to improve the lives of their loved ones who are stricken by dementia. The books are touching windows into the life of a man committed to keeping dementia from getting in the way of his marriage.
