The Tiny Hands Foundation Announces the 2016 Back-to-School Backpack Brigade, Aims to Provide 1,500 Backpacks filled with School Supplies for Children in Need
Sarasota, Florida (PRWEB) July 15, 2016 -- The Tiny Hands Foundation has announced the 3rd Annual Back-to-School Backpack Brigade. The Tiny Hands Foundation is a non-profit foundation benefiting underprivileged children and families in Sarasota, Manatee, and DeSoto counties.
Saturday August 6th 2016, 10am-1pm: The Tiny Hands Foundation, together with the assistance of hundreds of volunteers, will fill 1,500 new backpacks with school supplies to provide to community children in need. The event will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Sarasota, 3100 Fruitville Rd, Sarasota, FL 34237. Volunteers of all ages are invited to attend.
The Tiny Hands Foundation was founded by Sarasota businessman and philanthropist Rod Khleif in 2001, and leads several annual community children’s charitable initiatives that have benefited more than 40,000 community children and families in need.
“One in five children in our community is growing up beneath the poverty level. Families shouldn’t have to struggle financially so that their children can be prepared to participate in their education. Children should not have to go without the basic supplies they need to succeed in school. Many of the families we’re helping are single parent families with multiple children: back-to-school expenses can be overwhelming for a family that is struggling to make ends meet. If by providing a new backpack and school supplies, we can make a difference in the life of one child to help inspire a better future for him or her, it will make this worthwhile”, says Khleif.
The Tiny Hands Foundation’s Annual Charitable Initiatives include:
Back-to-School Backpack Brigade: Provides thousands of new backpacks filled with school supplies to community school children in need.
Teddy Bear Brigade: Provides thousands of teddy bears for community police department patrol cars to be given out by police officers to comfort children in distress.
Holiday Basket Brigade: Provides thousands of holiday gift baskets filled with food and Christmas toys to community children and families in need.
