The tranSMART Foundation Announces 2015 Annual Meeting
Wakefield, Mass. (PRWEB) September 28, 2015 -- The tranSMART Foundation, a non-profit organization providing a global, open-source knowledge management platform for scientists to share pre-competitive translational research data, today announced that its 2015 tranSMART Annual Meeting will be held October 19-21, 2015 at the National Cancer Institute of the Netherlands in Amsterdam.
Three of the keynote speakers confirmed will include:
• Emile Voest, MD, Ph.D., medical director for the Netherlands Cancer Institute – “Precision Medicine, Targeted Cancer Therapies”
• Martin Hofman-Apitius, Ph.D., head of Bioinformatics at Fraunhofer Institute for Algorithms & Scientific Computing SCAI – “Integration of Computable Disease Models in tranSMART-PLUS Knowledge Bases”
• Paul Avillach, MD, Ph.D., assistant professor, Harvard Medical School – “Future Trends in Translational Medicine”
• Bastiaan Bloem, MD, Ph.D., neurologist at Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, Wearable Sensors – “The (Parkinson) Care of the Future”

The three-day conference will include the four keynote presentations, as well as a collection of 25+ interactive presentations from industry experts, more 20 poster presentations, three advanced training sessions, meetings of and presentations by the 3C Committees (Code, Content and Community) on their activities, and a Hackathon that will be conducted during the meeting and reported at the end. Furthermore, there will be a summary of the Foundation’s first Datathon that was held June/July 2015 on Cross Neurodegenerative Diseases and the conclusions of each of the five teams will be presented.

Following the tranSMART Annual Meeting, eTRIKS (European Translational Information and Knowledge Management Services), a project leveraging the tranSMART platform, will hold its Community Meeting on October 22, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the World Trade Center in Amsterdam. The meeting will focus on “What can eTRIKS do for you?”. Attendees will learn and discuss the benefits experienced by eTRISK supported projects and see the new technology currently being worked on by eTRIKS developers.
