CINCINNATI, Ohio (PRWEB) January 05, 2018 -- The Treacher Collins Center at Cincinnati Children Hospital Medical Center recently hosted an interesting and educative private screening of the movie Wonder to a packed theater of close to 100 patients, staff, and families.
The debut of the movie was aptly timed to coincide with the center’s first anniversary. The movie Wonder tells the story of a young boy suffering from Treacher Collins, which is a genetic condition that affects a child’s facial appearance. According to Dr. Haithem Elhadi, a leading authority on oral, maxillofacial, and plastic surgery at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Wonder is a powerfully motivating movie to patients and families with children struggling with Treacher Collins Syndrome.
“The movie shows the struggles and difficulties young children with Treacher Condition have to contend with at school and life in general,” says Dr. Haithem Elhadi.

In recognition of the excellent work Dr. Haithem Elhadi and his team at TCC have been doing over the years, the center recently received an award of $100,000 from the Junior Co-Operative Society to offer hearing aids to patients who cannot afford to buy them.
The team of experts at Treacher Collins Center gives special attention to the affected child’s full range of symptoms and works together with parents and families to manage the child’s care. Their goal is to develop the most effective and comprehensive treatment plan while giving high priority to the child’s individual needs.
The private screening of the movie Wonder at CCHMC on the center’s first year anniversary was an informative session for both patients and their parents on the challenges faced by children with Treacher Collins Syndrome.
