The UK to Nashville Song Camp is Back: Emerging UK Talent and Nashville Talent Get Together for Five Days Devoted to Music
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) October 11, 2017 -- This week will see Nashville hosts the 5th annual UK to Nashville Song Camp from October 9 through 13. Nashville-based publishing company Palmer Global Ink, PGI, has hand-selected 16 new/emerging artists from the UK to join 16 of Nashville’s finest singers and songwriters in a fast-paced and exciting week. The Camp is a partnership between PGI and Her Majesty’s Department for International Trade, D.I.T.
This year’s camp boasts many special guest musicians and music industry insiders as well as some VIP attendees from the government of Great Britain. CMA, ACM, and Grammy winner Keith Stegall will be participating. Deanna Walker, founder of Blair School of Music’s Songwriting Program is a special music industry guest. World-class songwriter Johnny Bulford and Lady Gaga’s back-up singer Tabitha Fair will also be joining us. The Los Angeles producer for Drake, Akon, T.I, Lil Wayne, Lamont Logoc Coleman, and Singer/Songwriter/Producer Blue Miller will join local Nashville songwriting icon Steve O’Brien. Special musical guest, and rising country star Stephanie Quayle will also be appearing. This is only a partial list of the music industry guests. Representatives from England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland will be attending the event. The British Consulate General will be visiting from the Atlanta office along with staff from the Atlanta and LA offices.
The purpose of the camp is to strengthen ties between the UK and Nashville music industries. It is music beyond the borders, an international approach to music that creates opportunities for writers to pursue new possibilities. The songs created are poured over by PGI and other international publishing companies and sold on world markets. Our camp has resulted in Number One songs and records, established hit songwriting teams, and helped to launch the careers of rising stars the world over. Those writers have gone on to sign major record deals and perform on stages such as Glastonbury, the US and UK Americana awards, major sync licensing deals and numerous world tours. As of 2016, the camp had over 4,000 applicants and when the numbers for the 2017 camp are added that number will grow exponentially. Many writers on the UK side have waited 4 years to be accepted.
UK to Nashville is sponsored by Nashville tech companies DevDigital and Kalatech. PGI is a global network of Writers, Artists, Studios and Publishers operating in every world market. They work to create opportunities for writers and artists on both sides of the Atlantic through strategic partnerships with industry leaders. In short, PGI is writing the next chapter of Nashville’s storied music tradition.
Allen McKendree Palmer, international hit songwriter and the CEO of PGI, Phil Patterson, a D.I.T music specialist and Ross Graham of Generator Northern Ireland will be hosting the week’s events. Peter Marcum, Managing Partner of DevDigital, and Gwen Gude, DevDigital Client Relations, will host a listening party for music industry insiders. That event takes place on Friday, October 13 at the DevDigital’s offices at 162 Rosa L. Parks Boulevard.
