The University of Alabama and Portfolium Partner to Match Evidence of Skills to Employers' Needs
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) December 20, 2016 -- Portfolium, a cloud-based platform empowering students with lifelong opportunities to capture, curate, and convert skills into job offers, announced today that The University of Alabama, the flagship university of the state of Alabama’s higher education system with an enrollment of over 37,000 students, has selected Portfolium to serve the ePortfolio needs of its student body.
Since its founding in 1831 as Alabama’s first public college, The University of Alabama has dedicated itself to pursuing excellence in teaching, research, and service. With students engaged in a wide variety of academic programs and a broad range of career interests, the university has chosen Portfolium to shine a light on the accomplishments of their student body and drive their ability to connect with future employers.
“Portfolium is a great way to connect students with employers,” said Amanda Ingram, Director of Operations at the University of Alabama Career Center. “From engineering to education, nursing to natural resources management, the Portfolium platform is a great way for students of any major to showcase their skills and achievements.”
“In the current digital age, students need a way to showcase their distinct achievements and skills in ways that maximize the effectiveness of presentation,” explains Troy Markowitz, VP University Partnerships. “Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, students can leverage the ePortfolio platform of Portfolium to spotlight their abilities and accomplishments in a way that will be instantly attractive to employers.”
Portfolium will also be used to support the university’s initiative to highlight one of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) competencies each month. The NACE competencies, which include critical thinking and problem solving, information technology application, and leadership among others, will be spotlighted on different University of Alabama channels including social media campaigns, videos, and more. Cultivating these competencies will bolster student preparedness in order to stand out in their career searches and excel in the workplace.
