The University of Hawaii Upgrades with AstroTurf
HONOLULU (PRWEB) February 08, 2018 -- The Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium underwent major renovations this offseason, and now they are complete. When the University of Hawaii takes the field this season they’ll be playing on state-of-the-art athletic turf from AstroTurf®. Home field advantage for the ‘Bows will include a stylized “H” logo embedded right in the centerfield turf.
Although the skinned infield remains clay, the outfield and foul territories will be covered in AstroTurf’s RootZone Diamond Blend synthetic turf system. This premium product is part of AstroTurf’s Diamond Series lineup of innovative baseball and softball turf. These systems are specifically engineered to emulate the look and feel of their natural surface counterparts. The new artificial grass at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium contains a proprietary blend of fibers including AstroTurf’s patented RootZone, a specialized sub-layer that encapsulates the infill and supports the other fibers. The RootZone Diamond Blend is designed to deliver consistent performance and durability, as well as accurate ball-bounce and footing.

Coach Coolen will be leading the Rainbow Wahine for his 27th season this year. He’s taken Hawaii to 11 NCAA Tournaments and two Super Regionals during his tenure, and just last year he racked up his 1,000th win at the helm of the program. The ‘Bows host Japan on their new field on February 11 for a pair of exhibition games before the official home opener February 28 against California to start the Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament.
Denny Sadowski and his team at Co-Ha Builders installed the new AstroTurf softball turf. Other renovations to Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium included new fencing, upgraded spectator structures, and improvements to the dugouts.
