The University Of Scranton Takes Their Top-Ranked Master’s In Health Administration Online
Scranton, PA (PRWEB) February 25, 2014 -- The University of Scranton has announced they will offer a completely online version of their ground, CAHME-Accredited Master’s in Health Administration (MHA) program, with the inaugural class beginning May 5, 2014. The online MHA has been developed as an online replica of the CAHME-accredited ground program but will be pending accreditation until its second class has graduated meeting all CAHME required guidelines. The program is designed to prepare students to be true leaders and contributors to healthcare systems that innovate and promote sustainable and replicable outstanding practices that lead to excellence in healthcare.
The online modality is a timely response to the healthcare industry’s increasing demand for services as the large baby-boomer population ages and continues to be active at this later stage in life. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (2014-2015) reports that this increase is projected to require a 22 percent growth in the number of health care administrators and managers to oversee the physicians, patients, procedures, and facilities (including long-term care operations) needed to meet this growing demand for healthcare.
“The CAHME accreditation is a nationally recognized standard of excellence, in that the degree awarded is not only evidence-based per the values of the program’s mission at The University of Scranton, but also competency-based as per the values of CAHME,” says Michael Costello, Assistant Director, online Master’s in Health Administration program. “This means that the graduates of this program not only “know” the material, they “know what to do” with it. The online MHA curriculum is framed by The University of Scranton’s Catholic and Jesuit emphasis on ethics and education for justice and, in principle, the same as the face-to-face CAHME accredited MHA program offered on campus. The program requires 44 credits and 150 hours of fieldwork experience (HAD 580 Internship in Health Administration). At its completion the program is a total of 47 credit hours.
