The Village at Rockville Receives Five-Star Rating for Second Year In A Row
ROCKVILLE, MD (PRWEB) March 19, 2015 -- The Village at Rockville—A National Lutheran Community (TVAR) received a five-star rating from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the second year in a row. This ranking was further supported by recent news that TVAR also ranked number three in the state of Maryland and received a high endorsement of 97 percent from families in the Maryland Health Care Commission’s (MHCC) 2014 Nursing Facility Family Satisfaction Survey.
This year, CMS strengthened the Five Star Quality Rating System to give families more precise and meaningful information on quality when they consider facilities for themselves or a loved one. Ratings are based on three categories: results from onsite inspections by trained surveyors, performance on certain quality measures, and levels of staffing. Beginning this year, star ratings included improved calculations for staffing levels and reflected higher standards in order to achieve a high rating on the quality measure.
Before the recalibration, about 80 percent of nursing homes/continuing care retirement communities received either a four or five-star rating on their quality measures. Now, about 49 percent of nursing homes will receive a four or five-star rating according to CMS. The Village at Rockville received a five-star rating last year and successfully maintained the highest rating despite the increasing quality measures.
“The Village at Rockville is proud to be recommended for the excellent care we provide,” TVAR’s Executive Director Jason Gottschalk said. “We recognize that excellence is a daily commitment and constantly strive to improve our practices so that our residents and guests can thrive.”
TVAR additionally ranked number three in the state out of 230 nursing homes and received a high mark of 9.1 out of 10 for overall care from the MHCC Family Satisfaction Survey. An outstanding 97 percent of families would recommend TVAR’s nursing care to friends and family. The statewide average rating is 8.3. MHCC’s survey sample included 221 nursing facilities throughout the state of Maryland.
