The Washington Lawyers’ Committee Honors Savills Studley’s Rick Rome with Coveted Corporate Service Award
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) June 29, 2015 -- The Washington Lawyers’ Committee named Richard Rome the recipient of the 2015 Cotter-Hall Corporate Service Award at this year’s Wiley A. Branton Awards Luncheon, which took place on June 17th at the Grand Hyatt. Rome, Executive Vice President and Co-Branch Manager for Savills Studley’s Washington, D.C. office, was recognized for his significant contributions and strong commitment to the cause of civil rights.
Rome is a 35-year veteran in the commercial real estate industry. Throughout that time, he has earned a reputation as both a successful business leader and a staunch champion of civil rights and equal opportunity. He has also devoted himself to assisting the Community Connections (providing housing and mental health services), the Global Fund for Children, the National Partnership for Women & Families, the National Caucus and Center for Black Aging, FAIR Girls (fighting human trafficking) and the Guttmacher Institute (supporting reproductive rights globally).
Together, Rome and Savills Studley have been part of the Washington Lawyers’ Committee’s Corporate Advisor Board (CAB) for three years, during which time Rome and the firm established a model school partnership with Hendley Elementary School, among many other initiatives. As part of the alliance, Rome and more than 20 of his colleagues tutor students at the school weekly through the Tutormate program.
“Rick’s enthusiastic leadership has been indispensable to the Committee’s efforts to expand its engagement with other leading businesses that share our commitment to equal justice and the provision of a quality public education to all children in our city,” said Steven P. Hollman, Co-Chair of the Washington Lawyers’ Committee and a partner at Hogan Lovells. Co-Chair Lewis S. Wiener a partner at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan added, “We are most grateful for the contributions that Rick and Savills Studley have made to the Washington Lawyers’ Committee, our community and the cause of civil rights and are proud to recognize their work as it exemplifies the notable achievements of Francis Cotter and Elliot Hall, whom the award honors.”
The Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1968 to provide pro bono legal services to address discrimination and entrenched poverty in the Washington, DC community.
