The Way to Happiness Float Receives Mayor's Award at Festival of the Whales 2015 Celebration
Orange County, CA (PRWEB) April 29, 2015 -- The Dana Point Festival of Whales draws close to 100,000 visitors each year for a weekend of activities and festivities celebrating whales. The parade traditionally kicked off the opening day and the The Way to Happiness float entry featured a blue whale, mermaid and two children in a sailboat promoting the universal message of “Safeguard and Improve Your Environment” and won this year’s Mayor’s Award for best entry.
As the parade passed five different stages along a stretch of Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point, announcers stated, "Participating in our magical migration along comes a large grey whale with kids out sailing and a magical mermaid waving to the crowd. The float represents the Way to Happiness Foundation and promotes one of its key precepts which is to 'Safeguard and Improve your Environment' so that it remains a beautiful playground for our future generations."
Dana Point is known as the “Whale Capital of the West” for what experts believe is a navigational landmark for migrating whales from Mexico to Alaska with up to 50 whales passing a day (between December and March). The annual festival reaches out to whale admirers from around the world and not only entertains visitors but also educates them on environmental issues that concern the protection and preservation of ocean life and water quality issues.
“The Way to Happiness” promotes and encourages environmental improvement projects around the world in observance of calendar events such as Earth Day, World Environment Day and the many other celebrations particular to communities across the globe. An excerpt from “The Way to Happiness” reads; “Care of the planet begins in one's own front yard. It extends through the area one travels to get to school or work. It covers such places as where one picnics or goes on vacation. The litter which messes up the terrain and water supply, the dead brush which invites fire, these are things one need not contribute to and which, in otherwise idle moments, one can do something about. Planting a tree may seem little enough but it is something.”
“The Way to Happiness” is a common sense guide to better living comprised of 21 precepts. In the first three decades since its authorship, almost 100 million copies of the booklet passed from hand to hand inspiring a worldwide movement. For more information visit http://www.twth.org.
