Kent, WA (PRWEB) December 01, 2015 -- The Western HVAC Performance Alliance (WHPA) Executive Committee confirmed on Monday, November 9th, that Joe Schmutzler has been elected co-chairman of the Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD) Committee.
With over eleven years of experience working with and then for Transformative Wave, Schmutzler brings with him a wealth of knowledge and certifications including Certified Energy Manager, Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional and LEED Accredited Professional.
“We believe Joe Schmutzler, in addition to being a great asset for Transformative Wave, will shine as co-chairman of the Western HVAC Performance Alliance’s Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD) Subcommittee and we are proud to have a member of our organization serve the industry by taking on this responsibility” said Danny Miller, President of Transformative Wave.
The FDD Committee works with a wide representation of stakeholders to explore, help define, and promote useful research into FDD benefits and opportunities for commercializing FDD products through utility energy efficiency programs, code and standards approaches, and HVAC workforce education and training channels.
In order to accomplish a smooth transition into his new responsibilities, meetings have been held to review current goals, opportunities and some membership issues that need to be resolved. The committee’s roadmap has identified “in-field FDD” as the next area of focus.
Committees within Western HVAC Performance Alliance, such as the FDD, provide the California Investor Owned Utilities (IOU’s), the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and California Energy Commission (CED) with expert counsel from the building performance industry regarding heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.
“I'm excited to be working on this opportunity to improve the market for quality HVAC system fault detection and diagnostics. Too often, packaged roof top HVAC units are forgotten about as soon as they are installed and have a long history of poor operation. This committee is working to improve the function and operations of these systems to reduce costs for customers,” says Schmutzler.
The Western HVAC Performance Alliance is a collaboration of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), energy efficiency, facility management and utility industries and is government formed to: Maximize the numerous advantages of heating and cooling, indoor air quality, and energy efficiency services to customers; as well as to minimize the use of gas and electricity and to benefit the individuals and organizations that capably convey to the consumers and society.
