Theatre West Virginia 2015 Summer Season Is Filled with Fun Under the Stars
Beckley, WV (PRWEB) June 18, 2015 -- Theatre West Virginia’s 2015 season will feature two world famous redheads, a record setting Civil War musical-drama and vintage old time rock n’ roll, all sure to delight thousands of visitors who will make their way to the wooded Cliffside Amphitheatre near Beckley, WV. All Theatre West Virginia performances take place just minutes from downtown Beckley West Virginia at the picturesque Cliffside Amphitheatre, 4700 Grandview Road in Beaver, WV. The 2015 Theatre West Virginia season kicks off with Honey in the Rock, the musical-drama that tells the story of the turbulent times during the Civil War that gave birth to the state of West Virginia. Honey in the Rock holds the record for the oldest American Civil War drama that continues to be performed, having first been enjoyed by nightly sold out audiences in 1961 at Cliffside Amphitheatre. Honey in the Rock runs Friday June 19th through Friday July 3rd.
Tuesday July 7th through Saturday July 18th the Wild West comes to the Mountain State with Annie Get Your Gun, the Tony award winning Broadway smash hit musical about the incredible life and times of Annie Oakley, her romance with sharpshooter Frank Butler, and Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. With timeless music by Irving Berlin including the classics “There’s No Business Like Show Business” and “Anything You Can Do,” audiences are sure to sing along.
Pippi Longstocking makes her way to Theatre West Virginia Wednesday July 22nd through Friday July 31st. As seen in the smash musical and hit motion picture that has played to sold-out audiences the world over, Pippi is the high spirited, warm hearted incarnation of every child's dream of freedom and power. The daughter of a Buccaneer Pirate, dressed in strange clothes and living with her horse and pet monkey, Pippi possesses supernatural strength and untold wealth. And now the rollicking adventures that put Pippi, the nine year old little girl who doesn’t want to grow up, at odds with the demands of life in a small town are sure to fill Theatre West Virginia audiences young and old alike with smiles and laughter.
The 2015 Theatre West Virginia season wraps up Saturday August 1st with Old Time Rock and Roll performed live on stage by perennial favorites Phil Dirt and the Dozers. For years, Phil Dirt and the Dozers have played their world-class vintage rock and roll to sellout crowds at Grandview’s Amphitheatre, and this year will be no different as they bring their “Surf’s Up – A Tribute to the Beach Boys” tour to Theatre West Virginia.
