ThePad on Harvard Breaks Ground on Renewed Vision for Airport Area
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 01, 2015 -- ThePad on Harvard, College Park’s transit-oriented, mixed-use development, will break ground for its residential Phase I at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015, on the site at 1777 Harvard Ave., College Park.
For Jerome Russell, one of the partners in ThePad on Harvard Residential LP and CEO of HJ Russell and Company, the event will commemorate an extension of his family legacy. His father, Herman Russell and the company he founded, played a key role in the 1970’s expansion of Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport that made it one of the most important aviation hubs in the world.
Now, the Russell legacy will extend to the revitalization of the communities around the airport. By creating this deluxe residential option within 400 feet of the College Park MARTA Station in partnership with Air Realty, ThePad on Harvard will once again enhance a transportation hub to restore the desirability and economic vitality of the airport area.
“I am proud to extend my family’s long history with the prosperity of the airport area by launching this anchor project,” Jerome Russell said.
Community and business leaders from the airport area and beyond will join Jerome Russell, Romel Canete and Rod Mullice – ThePad on Harvard partners – to celebrate the beginning of a new era for the airport area communities at the July 9 groundbreaking event.
“ThePad on Harvard will provide desirable amenities, transportation ease and competitive pricing close to thousands of jobs important to the economic life of Metro Atlanta,” said Air Realty’s Romel Canete.
Air Realty Partner Rod Mullice stressed the importance of attractive residential options around the airport.
"Young professionals who live and work in and around the airport now will have an attractive choice that supports and facilitates their lifestyle aspirations,” Mullice said.
Speakers at the groundbreaking event will include Joseph Folz, chairman of the Atlanta Aerotropolis Alliance and VP, General Counsel and Secretary for Porsche North America; College Park Mayor Jack Longino; Tracey Wyatt, College Park Ward III City Councilman; Edward Johnson, MARTA Chief Administrative Officer; Perlis Johnson, Federal Aviation Administration Region 4 Deputy Regional Administrator; Dr. Stuart Gulley, Woodward Academy President, and others.
