Therapists of Brookhaven Retreat Attend the Annual Psychotherapy Networker Symposium
Knoxville, TN (PRWEB) March 26, 2015 -- Brookhaven Retreat LLC is dedicated to offering the highest quality of care to women with emotional and mental health challenges and/or substance abuse issues. That’s why two primary therapists at Brookhaven Retreat will be among more than 3,000 professionals at the annual Psychotherapy Networker Symposium March 26 to 29, 2015 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Brookhaven Retreat’s own Lana Wilson and Marlaina Kincaid will attend the four-day restorative festival of conversation and creativity titled The Colors of Tomorrow: Expand Your Vision for the Future of Your Practice, featuring Jon Kabat-Zinn, John and Julie Gottman, Diane Ackerman and Daniel Siegel, among others, who will present programs on the latest developments in key clinical categories and new approaches in the field.

The conference creates a deeply personal face-to-face community of colleagues, teachers and role models dedicated to showing you how to become more of the therapist you want to be. The faculty of 100 of some of psychotherapy’s most accomplished practitioners and celebrated featured speakers will provide a broad spectrum approach to ground-breaking and down-to-earth guidance.
For instance, best-selling author Jon Kabat-Zinn’s workshop titled The Power of Mindfulness as Practice will be devoted to understanding and experiencing mindfulness meditation as a way of being and seeing. Zabat-Kinn will also deliver the keynote address on opening day titled, Let the Beauty We Love Be What We Do.
There will also be a workshop about The 10 Principles of Effective Couples Therapy by Julie Schwartz Gottman and John Gottman, authors and founders of The Gottman Institute. The latest research and interventions to demonstrate various processes involving touch, movement, breathing, mindfulness and interception can help traumatized people regain mastery over their lives in Bessel van ver Kolk’s workshop, The Body Keeps the Score. Van der Kolk, M.D. is the founder and medical director of The Trauma Center, Brookline, MA.
Guests will also be treated to Squeeze Box: A One-Woman Show by award-winning playwright, actor, improve comedian, teacher and speaker, Ann Randolph, who has been called a “comedic genius” by the San Francisco Bay Times.
Therapists, who can look forward to reuniting with old colleagues as well as meeting new ones, will also have many hands-on opportunities to practice what they’ll learn in more than 130 workshops, and earn a year’s worth of CE credits.
