THINK [about Architecture] Scholarship Rewards 2014 Winners
Itasca, IL (PRWEB) August 08, 2014 -- Since 1997, DLA Architects, Ltd. has awarded scholarships to graduating high school seniors for their demonstrations of knowledge and interest in architecture. Students submitted videos highlighting how their educational spaces have created a quality learning environment, a challenge inspired by the firm’s “form follows learning” philosophy. Since its inception, the THINK [about architecture] Scholarship Program has helped hundreds of students pay for classes, books, and other higher education necessities. From a group of $250 School Level Scholarship winners, three State Level winners have recently been selected by DLA Architects.
This year’s first place State Level Scholarship award of $1,250 was presented to Alejandro Duran of Larkin High School. One of the comments from the DLA jury was “he really nailed it by including personal stories.” In addition, Lincoln-Way Central High School graduate Patricia Clare and H. L. Richards High School alum Michael Walt were awarded $750 each as this year’s State Level Runners Up. Vincent Dietz of Lockport High School and Cody Phalen of Mendota High School were awarded School Level scholarships of $250 each.
The graduates recently experienced “A Day in the Life of an Architect,” an event hosted by DLA as a bonus for the scholarship winners. The event offered each student a chance to work with and observe an architectural professional for the day.
