Top talent with disabilities
During the Think Beyond the Label Online Career Fairs, employers will gain one-on-one access to Think Beyond the Label’s 6,000 registered community members. More than 60% of these registered job seekers with disabilities have at least five years of relevant job experience; more than 40% have more than 11 years of relevant job experience; and about half have a professional certification or college level degree or beyond. Think Beyond the Label’s online career fairs in 2013 facilitated more than 1,200 conversations between employers and job seekers with disabilities.
One qualified candidate
Dan Petersen has a bachelor of science in industrial engineering from Purdue University and seeks a manufacturing role. A job seeker with hearing loss from Carmel, IN, Petersen uses assistive technology, which enabled his one-on-one chats with recruiters at Think Beyond the Label’s Online Career Fair in October. He will be back in 2014.
“Think Beyond the Label’s fairs are a great way to network with many employers at one time,” says Petersen. “The convenience factor is very high. No standing in lines – and you speak with company representatives much more quickly than you would in other forums. I highly recommend these events to other candidates with disabilities.”
Participating employers in Think Beyond the Label’s virtual recruiting events in 2013 ranged from government agencies and global corporations to colleges and universities, including: The Boeing Company, The Internal Revenue Service, The Hartford, AT&T, Union Pacific, IBM, UnitedHealth Group, Qualcomm, Aetna, Graybar, Merck, TRW Automotive, Trustmark Companies, NextEra Energy, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Clark University and many others.
