Thomas County Register of Deeds Starts E-recording with Simplifile
THOMAS COUNTY, Kan. (PRWEB) July 29, 2014 -- Electronic recording (e-recording) in Thomas County, Kan., is now available at the register of deeds’ office through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service provider.
With e-recording available, customers such as title companies, banks, attorneys, and lien filers, will be able to submit documents for recording via the Internet, saving time and money.
“I wanted to start e-recording to keep the office progressing with the times,” said Thomas County Register of Deeds Lora Volk. “Documents can be accepted, filed and returned all in one day. If the document is rejected, the customer will know about it the same day. The document can possibly be fixed and re-sent the same day instead of mailing everything back and waiting for a new document.”
Instead of having to submit documents by mail, courier service, or travel to the register of deeds’ office to record documents, customers can log in to Simplifile’s online service, scan and upload documents, and have them recorded in minutes.
Increased document security, fewer payment errors and less overall paper waste for both the county and its customers are just a few of the added benefits that come with e-recording.
Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile, eliminating check-writing expenses.
“We’ve had customers ask if there are other ways of paying besides checks; with this, there will be no checks,” Volk added.
High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to be able to start e-recording with Simplifile.
Thomas County is the 30th Kansas county to adopt Simplifile’s e-recording service.
