Three Senior Economists Join Cornerstone Research Staff

(PRWEB) February 10, 2015 -- Cornerstone Research, a leading provider of economic and financial consulting and expert testimony, announced today that three senior economists have joined the firm’s staff: Joseph T. Breedlove, formerly with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC); Krishna Kamath, recently with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); and Christo A. Pirinsky, who was an assistant professor of finance at George Washington University.

Joseph T. Breedlove specializes in the economic analysis of the effects on competition of mergers, acquisitions, agreements, and other firm conduct. Dr. Breedlove served as the lead economist at the FTC in investigations of the competitive effects of mergers and acquisitions in the healthcare, retail, entertainment, and defense sectors. In those investigations, he worked with large datasets in conducting empirical analyses. Dr. Breedlove was also the lead economist in FTC investigations of agreements between branded and generic pharmaceutical companies to settle patent litigation. He also served as the lead economist in investigations involving collusion and vertical relationships.
Krishna Kamath’s areas of expertise include corporate governance, private equity, and credit ratings. Dr. Kamath worked as a financial economist at the SEC’s Division of Economic and Risk Analysis, which provides sophisticated, interdisciplinary analysis across the entire spectrum of SEC activities. He was the lead economist for multiple Dodd-Frank regulations relating to disclosure and governance, as well as the research coordinator for the division. Dr. Kamath also worked at the prime brokerage division at Morgan Stanley, where he designed tools for evaluating the risk exposure of clients; and at Ernst & Young, where he was a member of the quantitative financial advisory services team validating the risk models of banking clients.
Christo A. Pirinsky conducts analysis on complex financial cases. His areas of expertise include capital market theory, corporate finance and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and behavioral finance. Dr. Pirinsky was on the faculty in the finance departments of George Washington University; Texas A&M University; and California State University, Fullerton. His research has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.
