Three USC Eye Institute Doctors Win “Top Doctor” Recognition from Pasadena Magazine
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 13, 2015 -- Dr. Rohit Varma, Dr. Mark Borchert, and Dr. Jonathan Song of the USC Eye Institute have been recognized by Pasadena Magazine as “Top Doctors” of 2015. This recognition comes as a result of voting within the Los Angeles medical community to honor who they feel are the most esteemed physicians in their field. It is a prestigious distinction, and three USC doctors are happy to have been selected.

Dr. Varma is one of the world’s foremost experts in changes affecting the optic nerve in glaucoma, in performing novel glaucoma surgical procedures and in treating difficult and complicated glaucomas. Dr. Song specializes in cornea, external diseases, cataract and laser vision correction surgery, while Dr. Borchert is a pediatric neuro-ophthalmologist and director of the Eye Birth Defects Institute and the Eye Technology Institute at the Vision Center of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, a part of the USC Eye Institute Each of these doctors contributes to compassionate vision research in their quest to help those suffering from vision loss and blindness.

In addition, it is ranked in the top 10 for research funding by the National Eye Institute. It is also the headquarters of two California Institute of Regenerative Medicine grants to develop stem cell based treatments for age-related macular degeneration, and is the headquarters of the National Science Foundation Biometric MicroElectronic Systems Engineering Research Center.
