Thycotic Software Adds SIEM Integration and AD Attribute Management in Password Reset Server 3.0
Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 20, 2013 -- Thycotic Software, creators of privileged account management solutions for enterprise IT, released the latest version of Password Reset Server, a self-service Active Directory (AD) password reset tool for end-users. Password Reset Server 3.0 expands the help desk automation software through enhanced reporting and more of what it does best: streamlined and secure end-user password resets.
Password Reset Server now integrates with security event and information management (SIEM) solutions. "[In this release] we wanted to add additional security options, more robust reporting and the option for event logging through SIEM," says Ben Yoder, product manager at Thycotic Software. The AD self-service reset tool now provides syslog outputs compatible with all major SIEM tools on the market today. This enables organizations to track end-user password resets in their existing SIEM solution and identify instances of concern.
Automatic enrollment for Password Reset Server also got easier in version 3.0 through Windows Active Directory attribute integration. In the new release, administrators can enroll users by importing their AD information automatically. This information can then be used to verify a person’s identity before a password reset is allowed. AD attributes can include phone numbers, addresses and birthdays, among other details.
"Password Reset Server 3.0 solves several new challenges for IT departments," says Jonathan Cogley, CEO of Thycotic Software. "We originally created the tool based on the requests of several large Secret Server customers. They figured that since we made their lives easier to manage IT passwords with Secret Server, we could bring the same value and security to end-user resets."
In version 3.0, end-users can now also manage their own personal information in Active Directory. Any time a user changes their home address or cell phone number, for example, they can update that information directly through Password Reset Server. The new information is then pushed directly to Active Directory. AD Attribute Management eliminates help desk time spent keeping end-user information up to date.
The Password Reset Server release also adds the ability to use generic SMS gateways. This means companies can use their existing SMS system for multi-factor authentication, where previously, only two SMS solutions were supported for the tool.
