Tibet Travel Advice For Planning a 2015 Tour
Lhasa, Tibet (PRWEB) February 19, 2015 -- As the 2015 Tibet travel season draws near, travelers from around the world are beginning to plan their tours. More often than not, travel groups find themselves with a list of questions that they can't find reliable answers for. Some of these include: How to pick a travel agency? How to avoid trouble while using or accessing money? What kinds of things should be packed? To help travelers prepare for their adventure, Tony Yang of Tibet Ctrip Travel Service-TCTS (http://www.tibetctrip.com) shares his advice.
How to pick a travel agency
This is one of the first and most important questions travelers should be asking. The Tibet tour industry is filled with lots of agencies looking to set travel groups up with a tour but not all may be the best ones for the job. Do they offer the kinds of tours the group is interested in? Can they provide references or links to review sites? Additionally, their responsiveness and willingness to answer questions while planning is often indicative of the experience they will provide on tour.
Avoid money and banking issues by planning ahead
Expect to use cash for all purchases. Local shops and restaurants only accept cash, with the exception of a few high-end establishments. Many banks in Lhasa accept foreign ATM cards while some can also process cash advances from credit cards. To avoid last minute hassles, travelers need to alert their bank of foreign transactions before they visit Tibet.
What to pack
This is primarily dictated by time of year and type of tour. Trekkers and mountain bikers need to bring clothes that can be layered; a warm sunny day can quickly turn to rain or snow, followed by temperatures plummeting below freezing at night. Well broken in shoes are a must, even for sightseeing tours. Blisters are no fun! To protect from the harsh sun hats, sunscreen, and lip balm go along way.
When planning a tour of Tibet the details can at first seem overwhelming. To make things easier, focus first on finding a good travel agency who will then be able to provide help with the rest. TCTS has been operating in Tibet for over 12 years and is always happy to answer questions. With the travel season coming up quick now is the time to start planning a tour!
