Tickets On Sale for Sierra Oro Farm Trail Food & Wine Passport Weekend on October 8 & 9, 2016
Chico, California (PRWEB) August 23, 2016 -- Perfect for foodies, wine and beer enthusiasts and travelers looking for a weekend getaway or a chance to explore off-the-beaten trail, tickets are now on sale for the 11th Annual Sierra Oro Farm Trail Passport Weekend on October 8 &9 (Columbus Day Weekend). With 15 wineries and 19 specialty farms participating, the annual Butte County agri-tourism event lives up to its theme: “Tour, Taste, Toast.”
Passport holders will meet the growers and vintners behind the thriving agricultural scene in Butte County. Participants can set their own pace, take self-guided tours of the scenic agricultural trails, meet local farmers and winemakers and sample the amazing bounty of locally owned wineries and specialty farms located throughout Butte County. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, one passport opens the doors to amazing specialty farms and local wineries where visitors will share samples of tasty artisan olive oils, specialty nuts, award-winning wines and much more.

New farms and wineries joining the trail in 2016 include:
• Almendra Winery & Distillery, formerly located at Bertagna Son Kissed Vineyards, opened their new tasting room establishment off-site from their vineyard in downtown Durham.
• Harvest Hill Farm, located in Oroville, brings to life heirloom pumpkins, squash, gourds, dried -flowers, Indian corn and shucks and handmade gifts.
• Nesseré Vineyards, located in Durham, is a new winery featuring organic farming and land use practices.
• Odyssey Winery & Vineyards returns to the Sierra Oro Farm Trail after a one-year departure, producing award-winning wines made from local and estate-grown grapes.
• Purple Line Winery is the first urban winery in downtown Historic Oroville. Purple Line takes advantage of many grape varietals grown in Butte County and hand crafts them into wine using time honored, traditional methods.
• Sohnrey Family Foods opened earlier this year, celebrating five generations of family farming, producing almonds, rice, prunes, and walnuts offered in consumer and retail packages.
• Spencer Shirey Wines, a boutique winery, located in a peaceful setting on 12 acres of rolling hills in Bangor.
New this year, two locations are offering boxed lunches for pre-sale online passport ticket orders. Guests who purchase the pre-paid lunch will pick it up at Wagon Wheel Market in Oroville and Maisie Jane’s California Sunshine Products in Chico. Lunch, consisting of tri tip or pulled pork, plus a side dish and drink is available for $10 on Saturday and Sunday. The online pre-purchase allows passport holders to enjoy lunch along the Farm Trail.
Due to the popularity of the Passport Weekend each year, an early sell-out is expected. Passports cost $30 per person and include a 2016 map and free commemorative wine glass for each ticket purchased. Advance tickets will also be available beginning Sept. 8 at any Butte County Tri Counties Bank locations and the Chico, Paradise and Oroville Chamber of Commerce. Passports will cost $35 per person the day of the event at designated passport locations (subject to availability).
