Tidewater Physical Therapy Expands Lymphedema Therapy Services in Newport News, Norfolk
Newport News, Va. (PRWEB) September 26, 2014 -- Tidewater Physical Therapy is pleased to announce that it has expanded its lymphedema therapy services, now offering the specialty in the Kempsville clinic in Norfolk and adding a second lymphatic therapist to the team at the Hidenwood clinic in Newport News.
“We pride ourselves in offering comprehensive physical therapy services and by adding Lymphedema, we are supporting our patients even more,” said Pete Elser, PT, MSPT, OCS, CMTPT, Clinical Director of the Kempsville location, which is taking appointments now and will start the treatments Oct. 7.
Lymphedema occurs when the natural drainage function of the lymphatic system is impaired, often by cancer treatment, trauma, or genetic predisposition, and fluid builds up in the tissues. That build up – lymphedema – can lead to stiffness, pain and infection.
Tidewater Physical Therapy’s certified lymphatic therapists are trained to naturally rid patients of the trapped fluid using Complex Decongestive Physical Therapy.
