Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Lynn Rushing to Present Program on Fitness for Older Adults
Norfolk, Va. (PRWEB) August 20, 2013 -- Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Lynn Rushing, PT, DPT wants older adults to stay active as a way to fight the chronic pain associated with arthritis and joint disease. And she’ll teach them how.
Rushing, the Clinical Director of Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Kempsville location in Norfolk, VA., will lead a free educational seminar on maintaining health at all ages on Monday, Sept. 9, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Janaf Library in Norfolk.
“We’ll also go over some important nutritional tips,” Rushing said. “Come ready to participate in a brief exercise routine that will build muscle and you can do right from a living room chair.”
Rushing has an interest in working with older adults. She understands the challenges people face as they age and look to maintain active lives amid chronic pain and works to educate men and women of all ages on ways they can move now to keep their body moving pain-free for years to come.
As a clinician, Rushing believes that “physical therapy is an integral part of returning to daily activity following injury or dysfunction. It is essential to find the cause of the pain and treat it using an integrated approach and a combination of techniques with an emphasis on evidence-based practice.”
Rushing earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Mary Washington in 2006 and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University in 2009.
She joined Tidewater Physical Therapy in 2009 and treats a variety of orthopedic conditions and impairments.
Rushing is a native of the Hampton Roads area and keeps moving herself by jogging and biking when she’s not in the clinic treating patients.
The Janaf Library is located at 124 Janaf Shopping Center off Virginia Beach Boulevard near Military Circle Mall.
