Orlando, FL (PRWEB) October 28, 2014 -- Throughout a 10-day period, Tijuana Flats raised money for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign to combat childhood hunger. A portion of proceeds from every kid’s meal as well as the sale of Tijuana Flats’ Just In Queso Foundation hot sauce were donated to the cause. Tijuana Flats raised over $11k to help feed children in need, exceeding the initial goal for a first time campaign participant. In total, 20,490 kids’ meals and 367 bottles of hot sauce were sold. Monetary donations were also accepted. Tijuana Flats Just In Queso Foundation matched all proceeds.
With staggering numbers of one in four children facing childhood hunger, Tijuana Flats was able to provide food for thousands of children who struggle daily with this growing epidemic.
The Tijuana Flats’ Just In Queso Foundation also set up community outreach days for volunteers at several food banks throughout the campaign. Volunteers packaged food for families in need throughout six different markets.
“Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Program has made a tremendous impact on communities all of over the country. The thought of children not having a meal on the table is beyond saddening. As a restaurant group, we felt it was imperative that we do our part to join this fight,” said Brad Kaemmer, Chief Executive Officer for Tijuana Flats.

About No Kid Hungry
No child should grow up hungry in America, but 1 in 5 kids will face hunger this year. When kids get the food they need, they do better in and out of the classroom. Using practical solutions, No Kid Hungry is ending hunger everywhere it affects kids- at home, at school, and where they play. No Kid Hungry makes sure children start the day with a nutritious breakfast, and end the day with an affordable meal by teaching families skills to shop and cook on a budget. When we all work together, we can connect kids to healthy foods and end childhood hunger in America. No Kid Hungry is led by Share Our Strength.
