Tim Carroll Resurges with New Music and New Management
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) August 13, 2014 -- Over the past two years Tim Carroll has been holding court most Friday nights at The 5 Spot in east Nashville, playing for his ever-growing loyal fan-base and giving them two and a half hours of continuous music from his extensive catalog, to create a truly happy “Happy Hour.”
The result of his efforts has not gone unnoticed. The Americana Music Association will be sponsoring and promoting his September 19th show as part of the 2014 Americana Music Festival & Conference – an unusual gesture in that most festival-sponsored events typically feature multiple artists on the bill and are not free to enter. Carroll and his trio will perform as they have from the start, with no other artists before or after and a tip jar-only policy. His show is the only festival-sponsored event being held in east Nashville.
Up until April, Carroll had spent the past several years as sideman for his wife, Americana chanteuse and Sirius Radio host Elizabeth Cook. Now, with more time to focus on his own music and his trio with Bones Hillman (Midnight Oil) on bass and Steve Latanation (Agent Orange) on drums, Carroll has finished recording a new album and will be taking his band on the road.
With his new release on the horizon, new relationships with CIMG (artist management, publicity) and The Press House (booking), Carroll is poised to begin a new chapter in his musical journey with a solid support staff in place and a renewed fervor. “Playing with Steve and Bones is great because they bring so much experience to the situation, and I love their musical sensibilities,” he said. “But their experience has also obviously taught them to bring their naive childish enthusiasm to the gig, which makes it a notch better. We all have a lot of fun playing together.”
The team behind him is just as energized to get his new music out and the trio on the road. “East Nashville wouldn't be east Nashville without Tim Carroll,” Tommy Merrill of The Press House noted about his latest client. “He is a trailblazer for Americana and Indie-Rock artists alike and we're out of this world excited to be adding him to our roster.”
Award-winning journalist Peter Cooper has taken in several Tim Carroll shows and finds his presentation to be nothing short of impressive. “Tim Carroll is a fiery stage presence, a tremendous Chuck Berry-loving guitar player and a songwriter who blends intelligence, humor and aggression into something wholly idiosyncratic and tremendously entertaining,” he wrote for The Tennessean.
Carroll, the one-time guitarist for the legendary punk outfit The Gizmos and the acclaimed New York City-based roots rock band The Blue Chieftains has always enjoyed the live performance aspect of being a professional musician and is eager to get back to touring. “Playing live is life itself,” he said. “Doing the best you can, showing where your art is at, and interacting with people - it’s that immediate response that I love most.”
In addition to appearing on the Grand Ole Opry dozens of times with Cook, and touring in Japan, Great Britain, France, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, and South Korea; Carroll as a band leader has opened for established artists such as Alejandro Escovedo, Todd Snider, Ryan Adams, Steve Forbert, Southern Culture On The Skids, Greg Garing, Robbie Fulks, and more.
