Time Gap - A Teenage Blues Band from Pennsylvania is Heading to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) December 16, 2015 -- Introducing Time Gap, a teenage blues band from Southeastern Pennsylvania. Quickly gaining popularity with blues lovers from the tri-state area, this dynamic quartet captures audiences with melodic vocals, incredible guitar solos, jazz infused bass lines and tasty drum licks. The band has been selected by the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation to perform in the Youth Showcase at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee, January 2016. Time Gap is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on their debut EP “Flashback,” due to be released in mid-January (https://www.facebook.com/timegap1/).
“Blues is what emotions sound like to me. It is a type of music which everyone can relate to, a universal language” says 17 year old band leader and guitarist, Radka Kasparcova, who fell in love with blues after performing live on the stage with Buddy Guy. An experienced blues performer, with a CD and several singles getting serious radio air time, she was featured in Blues- E-News magazine as one of the Top 25 women blues performers, and she is one of the Blues Kids from the Blues Foundation (http://www.radkamusic.com/).
“Singing the blues is so enjoyable because of the emotion and power written into every tune. Blues songs are intended to touch peoples’ souls, so when writing, I strive to bring honesty and passion into every song” adds another girl in the band, 15 year old vocalist and band lyricist Sophie Griffiths. The girls met together during a local’s blues jam, and their collaboration flourished. Sophie’s powerful voice resonates greatly with audiences, and she opens her soul to them with her powerful proses.
The two girls are complimented by two guys; the dynamic duo on bass and drums, Miles Burger and Noah Bryant, both 17. Joining the girls, they clicked from the first note together. Miles, an accomplished double treat on electric bass and upright bass, has performed classical masterpieces alongside the Philadelphia orchestra, as well as at major jazz competitions and festivals. He also fronts an alternative rock band. Noah plays in marching bands and his high school jazz and concert bands, where he met Radka. Noah works to combine elements of complex rhythmic patterns with groove beats to marry his love for marching percussion and the drum set.
What makes this band so unique is the fact that they are able to attract their peers and a younger generation to an unusual genre for performers their age. Their ability to compose and perform not only covers, but their own original music, speaks to their creativity and unique contributions to the body of work set before them by great performers and composers throughout blues history. The group's enthusiasm and collaborative efforts have already proven fruitful as their list of original songs grows. “We all listen of different types of music, which is evident in our sound. We use influences from jazz, rock and funk to get a unique blues sound” says Miles about their original songs and Noah added “The fact that we are all really good friends allows us to make great songs, and most importantly, have a lot of fun while crafting them”.
The journey to Memphis is a fantastic opportunity for this group of college bound seniors and a freshman from local high schools. Being a part of the International Blues Challenge and seeing the best blues players on the stage will be a motivating and energizing experience for Time Gap. No doubt, this talented group of young and dedicated musicians will continue to inspire and entertain!
