Timothy F. McBride’s New Novel Takes Readers to Isolated Island
SPARTA, N.J. (PRWEB) November 14, 2014 -- A unique civilization grows and flourishes on an isolated island situated in an obscure lake in North America. But its time as a peaceful hub of civilization is interrupted when it feels the inevitable push of westward-bound settlers of the New World.
Author Timothy F. McBride describes what happens when three different cultures share a geographical area in his debut historical fiction “Raccoon Island: The Encroachment of Man” (published by AuthorHouse).
Tensions build as European settlers populate the region, putting stress on the remote island civilization which is clouded in myth and mystery. Eventually the encroachment boils over into a battle between the United States Army and the mysterious island dwellers.
McBride says his book tells a story of adventure and tolerance. He hopes it will help readers understand what can happen when there is prejudice and a lack of acceptance from one culture to another.
“Tolerating differences in people is a common problem all over the world,” McBride says. “It makes the news every day. Wars and conflicts over differences in beliefs and physical traits have bogged us down on a world scale. If we are to go on and do great things as a species, humans need to learn how to be more accepting of people that are different from themselves.”
