Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- American College of Education, an accredited online college that provides online degree programs for educators, will hold its Summer 2013 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, July 27, at the Tinley Park Convention Center in Tinley Park, Illinois, at 2:00 p.m. The college will confer more than 2,000 Master of Education degrees in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership and Educational Technology at its semi-annual event.
In honor of the American College of Education graduates, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has issued a commendation letter for the day stating, “I know that you have overcome many obstacles to reach this point, and you should take great pride in all that you have accomplished thus far.”
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel also proclaimed July 27, 2013 to be American College of Education Graduate Day in Chicago. “I urge all Chicagoans to celebrate the hard work and dedication of these graduates as they remain committed to the ongoing cycle of learning and teaching to continue strengthening the greater community,” said Mayor Emanuel in his proclamation.
American College of Education will recognize Samantha Reid, M.Ed. as its Alumni Achievement Award recipient. Reid teaches French at a prominent all-boys high school in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. She is passionate about teaching and has impacted the lives of her students in a number of positive ways. At American College of Education, Reid earned master’s degrees in both Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction.
Tiffany Hamlett, Ph.D., will receive the Faculty Achievement Award in recognition of her excellence in online education. Dr. Hamlett is a core faculty member at American College of Education, and she focuses on early childhood education, curriculum development and research methods. In addition to her work at American College of Education, Dr. Hamlett serves as a reviewer for Social Development and the Southern Early Childhood Association.
Education advocate Jarrad Toussant of Newark, New Jersey, will deliver the commencement keynote address. Toussant is committed to bridging the achievement gap and to solving major issues in education through collaboration. Toussant currently serves as senior education advisor to Mayor Cory Booker of Newark, New Jersey, a city that has been noted for its innovative approach to public education reform.

The American College of Education commencement ceremony both recognizes the graduates’ accomplishments and provides an opportunity for students to celebrate with their online classmates and professors face to face.
