These systems also tend to be easy to update and make notes on. Color coding items on the list or mind map can be extremely useful in quickly indicating what still needs to be done, where there might be issues that need addressed, and what has already been completed.

Laying the online marketing and local search engine optimization plan permits business owners to more clearly lay out a definitive order of actions. This allows the business to more easily identify prioritization of tasks. It also makes it easier to see if there are any holes in the plan that should be filled.

In some cases, it really does make a difference where to start the marketing plan efforts. Social media accounts, review sites, and business listings often link to one another. It is usually a good idea to set up the big ones first: LinkedIn, Facebook, Google +, Yelp, Localeze, and so on. Trying to set everything up over the course of one or even just a handful of days can backfire. It is a good idea to take time with each of these entries, verify all information, and avoid duplication. Original content in profile summaries and posts will help with the search engine rankings. One the key sites have been signed up for, business owners will spread out slowly over time to other sites. This will help build the business’s authority.
