The Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots will meet at University of Phoenix Stadium on February 1 for Super Bowl XLIX. With the game just under two weeks away, Super Bowl tickets on the secondary market are in high demand.
According to TiqIQ, the current average price for Super Bowl tickets is $4,385 with a get-in price of $2,100. At its current price, this year’s Super Bowl would be the most expensive Super Bowl over the past six seasons. Super Bowl XLVI between the Patriots and New York Giants at Lucas Oil Stadium had an average price of $4,215, the only game since 2010 to finish with an average price above $4,000. Ticket prices have gone up 11% on the secondary market since the conclusion of the AFC Championship Game on Sunday night.
Seattle’s second trip to the Super Bowl in as many years makes them the first team to appear in back-to-back Super Bowls since the Patriots in 2004 and 2005. The average price for this year’s game is currently 10.96% above the average at this time last year.
New England’s last trip to the Super Bowl came in that 2011 game against the Giants. The Patriots have been to the Super Bowl five times since 2000, but are winless in their last two appearances. The current average price for this year’s Super Bowl is 9% above the average of their last trip at the same time in 2012.
