Tobins Lake Studios Announces New Theatrical Scenic Backdrops and a New Resident Artist
Brighton, MI (PRWEB) November 19, 2014 -- Tobins Lake Studios has been producing scenic backdrops and theatrical products for more than 60 years. Until last year, there were three companies under the Tobins Lake Studios name: one specializing in lighting and rigging for Auto Shows, another selling lighting equipment and theatre supplies, and the original core company that designed, painted and rented theatrical backdrops, manufactured curtains and provided rental drapery and supplied the arts community with it's Easy Armor & Ornament. Now, Tobins Lake Studios finds itself in a position to re-introduce itself to the artistic communities around the country. Tobins Lake Studios is now back to that original core Backdrop Rental Company and is excited to concentrate fully on what their customers are looking for in their upcoming productions.
Tobins Lake Studios has available hundreds of rental backdrops for a large number of shows, that their loyal customers have loved over the years. However, as part of returning to its core, Tobins Lake Studios has made it a priority to start producing new backdrops for the many shows that have been recently made available to the theatre community. With that in mind Tobins Lake Studios has brought aboard a new scenic artist, Jamie Clausius, to help drive that vision forward.
Ms. Clausius has painted for several theatre companies, including Children’s Theatre of Madison, the Lexington Children’s Theatre, and Muhlenberg Summer Music Theatre. She studied at Cobalt Studios Inc., participating in their two year Scenic Artist Training Program, which prepares scenic artists for careers in theatre and other venues. Ms. Clausius has a passion for scenic painting and a drive to create new processes and designs specifically for backdrops. She loves the cooperation and the idea exchange that comes from collaborating with other artistic professionals.
Since starting at Tobins Lake Studios, Ms. Clausius has been researching popular musicals and shows that are soon to be produced, and began preparing new stage backdrop designs to address the needs of the artistic planners for their new shows.
“I view artistic relationships as an important cornerstone for creativity, and I’m committed to bonding with Tobins Lake Studios customers, infusing the company with their needs and ideas. Social media and technology have become so important for a business to reach out to its customers. I’m excited to dive into those avenues and be able to talk to professionals on a more causal level.” said Ms. Clausius.
With Tobins Lake Studios as the only theatrical backdrop rental studio in Michigan, and one of only a handful of such companies around the country, Ms. Clausius sees a great opportunity to reach out to new artists through technology that can benefit both the artist and the studio, and allow the customer to actually have a voice in the kind of products they would like to see produced.
With customer input, Ms. Clausius has made several new backdrop designs available. Such designs include a swamp backdrop intended for “Shrek the Musical”, an Egyptian pyramid design for “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat”, and a “Village of the Sweets” design for “The Nutcracker”.
Tobins Lake Studios has some of the most competitively priced backdrops in the business, and with new inventory being added each month they are a great option for theatre professionals to utilize in their shows. With new designs by Ms. Clausius and others the inventory of beautiful backdrops grows and adds to the wonderful history of Tobins Lake Studios.
