Tod Stephens Selected as a 2016 Missouri Lawyers Weekly “Up & Coming” Honoree
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) August 09, 2016 -- Armstrong Teasdale, a law firm with offices across the United States, proudly announces that Litigation associate Tod Stephens has been selected for Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s 2016 “Up & Coming” list. The awards recognize “young attorneys who are making a positive difference in the practice of law in Missouri and whose outstanding contributions have them on the track for success.”
Before earning his M.B.A. and law degree, Stephens fought in Iraq for three years as a U.S. Army infantry officer, earning the Bronze Star for Valor, the Purple Heart, three Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Combat Action Badge and several other commendations. He is also Airborne Ranger qualified, served on active duty for nearly eight years and remains a major in the individual reserves.
Stephens leverages that experience in his legal practice, helping defense, intelligence, and energy sector businesses across the country operate within the highly-regulated and litigious world of government contracting. He advises in-house counsel, business managers, corporate directors, and Facility Security Officers (FSOs) in navigating their complex regulatory and legal obligations. Stephens represents clients during interactions with the Defense Security Service (DSS), the Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DOD CAF), the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals (DOHA), the Department of Energy, the Department of Homeland Security and numerous Government Contracting Activities (GCAs). He also leads teams of former government professionals to efficiently prepare businesses for government inspections and assessments, implement vulnerability mitigation plans, and resolve compliance challenges.
Stephens also has extensive courtroom experience which includes winning summary judgement victories in corporate ownership disputes, preliminary injunctions in complex commercial matters, and exonerations of trustworthy corporate clients facing federal investigation. Stephens frequently conducts internal investigations for his clients, evaluating legal issues related to regulatory compliance, contract performance, financial management, and employee conduct. His wide-ranging practice enables him to support clients across industries including healthcare, agribusiness, commercial lending, higher education, power generation, and beer distribution.
His community activities involve serving on the Young Leaders Board of the USO of Missouri, Inc. and the Board of Directors for The Snow Foundation, a charitable research organization focused on finding a cure to Wolfram Syndrome, which is a rare and tragic disease suffered predominately by children and young adults.
Stephens earned his J.D. from Washington University School of Law and M.B.A. from Washington University’s Olin Business School. He earned his B.S. and was a Distinguished Cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Admitted to practice law in Missouri and Illinois and before the U.S. District Court, Eastern Districts of Missouri, Stephens is a member of a number of organizations including The Missouri Bar, Illinois State Bar Association, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Society of Industrial Security Professionals (NCMS) and ASIS International.
Profiles of each honoree will appear in an upcoming edition of Missouri Lawyers Weekly, and the winners will be recognized at a cocktail reception on October 7.
